Sunset District

Sunset District

The Sunset is also a part of town where things feel less on top of each other.

Welcome to Inner Sunset

If Golden Gate Park is San Francisco’s lungs, then the Inner Sunset is the city’s arms reaching from the heart of the Haight out toward the city’s fingertips along Ocean Beach. This section of San Francisco forms an easy grid, with numbered avenues laid out from east to west and named streets from north to south in mostly-alphabetical order. At the top, there’s the proud length of Golden Gate Park. A block down runs Irving Street, which at 9th Avenue anchors the Inner Sunset’s commercial district. While there are plenty of corner stores and local joints throughout, it’s here you’ll find the concentration of restaurants and shops.

San Franciscans love the Inner Sunset for its park proximity, its beach-adjacent convenience, and because its streets are soothingly flat. No hill parking required! The Sunset is also a part of town where things feel less on top of each other. The park’s greenery and the fresh ocean air helps to keep one’s head clear.
